Meet The Team

Juliet Penwarden
(BHS Stable Manager; BHS I.I; HND Equine Studies; NVQ Assessor; BD Trainer)

Juliet has worked with horses for over 20 years, since leaving school, on a variety of yards from riding schools, competition yards and even for a large equine veterinary practice. She has lectured at Writtle College and acted as a consultant for Usborne Publishing on their series of equestrian books.

Prior to moving to Brook Farm in 2006 Juliet successfully ran a livery and teaching business for a number of years in Essex where she still regularly travels to carry out clinics.

The move to Brook Farm allowed for improved facilities and reduced traffic!

Juliet is an experienced and successful competitor in a variety of disciplines which include Affiliated Eventing, BSJA Showjumping and Showing to County level. More recently she has concentrated on Dressage, competing to National Championship level.

John Penwarden

Originally from a farming background, John’s role is primarily grassland management and general maintenance, although he can easily adapt to yard duties and horse husbandry. Over the years he has also become a particularly good show groom. John has a Diploma in Agriculture from Bicton College and has previously run a grassland management business and takes great pride in the grassland at Brook Farm.

Chloe Ling

Chloe LingChloe is working towards her level 3 Diploma and her BHSAI. She already holds her level 2 Diploma and, whilst working at Brook Farm, has passed her BHS Stage 2 and Stage 3 with distinction. Chloe has spent time working on a busy riding school with a variety of horses prior to joining the team at Brook Farm. She particularly enjoys working with the competition horses and can be seen out and about with them at many of the shows.

Mel Lockwood

Mel LockwoodMel is working towards her level 3 Diploma and her BHSAI. Mel has her level 2 Diploma and whilst working here has passed her BHS Stage 2 and Stage 3 with distinction. Mel has worked on a variety of yards from rehabilitation yards to top competition yards. Whilst she enjoys all aspects of the horse industry, she has a keen interest in the veterinary and rehabilitation side of things.

Jaye Williams

Jaye works part-time at Brook Farm, combining this with studying for a degree in Equitation and Coaching at Easton College. Jaye holds her BHS stage 3 and has a wide range of experience within the horse industry.

Apprenticeships, and openings for work experience are occasionally available at Brook Farm for dedicated individuals to train for recognised qualifications.
